Deep gray-blue hues with touches of warm browns and whites form a dramatic third piece in Carrie's series of three dogwood blooms with branches. Inspired by her young dogwood which burst forth in bloom for the first time last Spring. Carrie used a new technique of soaking her watercolor paper (Arches 140#) in her tub, then crumpling the paper and hanging it to dry. This created an interesting pattern of wrinkles to catch and repel her pigments. The paper on this original still has movement from this process. Carrie recommend's float framing the piece to show the dimension to its best. This piece coordinates with her other Dogwood pieces as well as her Horizontal Grasses pieces.
