Ellen Altamore is a local Holland paper bead maker who has been creating jewelry for many years. She was a glass bead maker for a long time until converting to paper in 2012. She has found a new niche with these popular paper creations.
Her material sources include art papers, wrapping paper, maps, calendars, vintage sheet music and many other colorful beautiful paper products. Once her paper treasure is found, she cuts thin strips and rolls them in bead forms using a quilling tool. Each bead is then glazed by hand times with three coats of an acrylic sealer that protects the bead and gives it is patina; shiny, matte or sparkly depending on the mood she wants to achieve.
A little dampness won't hurt these bracelets but don't swim in them or run them through the wash!
