John Leben
John grew up as a student in the Chicago Public Schools and was awarded a scholarship for a unique program at the Art Institute of Chicago. He's been an artist ever since. Eventually he earned an MFA from that same place with a master's thesis in which he used Xerox machines to develop his imagery. He's always been interested in technology, both as subject and medium. Today, he works digitally, creating pictures in the computer, and producing archival-quality limited edition prints of the finished digital paintings. His current passion is the environment and his pictures use surrealistic imagery, fantasy and humor to present solutions to environmental problems. They're mostly absurd solutions that emphasize the unintended consequences of technology, and he loves to create them!
