Lake Effect Gallery Sales Assistant - Part Time 9/13/2024

Activities:

• Customer conscious focus from greeting, assistance and closure  to follow up.  Match customer’s needs or interests (Sales person may need to identify these) to products and services offered. 

• Sales of original and reproductions of art, jewelry, textiles, framing, glass products and other items.  Learning about the artist, the process, the options, the story of the work and sharing this with the customer.  Discerning what look/taste/items would appeal to the customer and leading the customer to these items and following up to supply special requests

• Follow up via use of emailing and phone calls. 

• Processing sales transactions – Credit card processing, proper entry for different types of items and services.  Proper data entry and cash handling.  Wrapping, packaging product.  Reconcile credit card batches (in morning).

• Packaging art for sales floor.

• Checking for web orders and following up.

• Provide support to other staff members when needed.

• Responsibilities may change and this list cannot be assumed to be inclusive.

Schedule:

• Two days per week – Tuesday, Thursday tentatively.

• Saturdays – Every other Saturday

• Flexibility – schedules change as demand varies and other staff members have time off.  This position is providing backup to staff and would be ask to remain flexible as needs change.

• Holidays – Needed the week of Thanksgiving, either the Friday or Saturday after and Christmas before/after dependent upon the business calendar.   (with the actual holiday off).

• No Sundays. 

• Vacation time – we ask for this position to commit to not exceeding more than 2 weeks away per quarter unless prearranged at time of hire.

Skills and Experience:

• Retail Sales – several years minimum working in a customized product sales setting.

• Computer – point of sale computer and credit card system experience.

• Keyboarding skills for email and Word.

• People skills – enjoy meeting and working with new people. 

• Color and Design – An eye for color coordination, design flow, and interest in home décor

• Hanging and de-installing art works in the gallery will require ladder work and lifting.
